5 Points For Your Self-Growth By Yashica Jalhotra

1. The company you are keeping – Nowadays our company is not that big, but our social media company matters; the people we follow, the friends we have, what comes in our feed. Whether it is YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, whatever comes in your feed is your company nowadays. We are not meeting people nowadays. So, I can’t say your company is good or bad, but your feed is your company. Check your feed tonight and see what is there, whether you are seeing something good or bad. Are you getting any inspiration by looking at your feed? Is it boosting you? So, this the point no. 1, check your social media feed because you are spending a lot of time on social media.

2. What do you see/visualize – We have 5 sense organs, among which the eyes play the most important role in programming our mind. So, from social media, I am coming to television and newspaper. Television and newspaper contain negative news mostly. They are also not helping in our growth. Disconnect yourself from everything which is not helping in your growth.

3. Creating a Checklist of people – Create a list of 10 people with whom you are spending most of your time daily, whether on-call, video call, chat, etc. Then take their name and ask yourself – Are they helping me in my growth in any way? If not, put a cross in front of their name. In the end, you will be left with some name or no name. This is not selfishness but it is self-respect and self-audit. You don’t need to need to feel guilty about it. Whoever is not contributing to your well being, they are taking away your valuable time and money from you.

4. a) Journal on 10 things you are grateful for – The Alpha state of mind is very powerful. Whether you have used it or not. Do one thing from today, before sleeping, take a diary and write down 10 things you are grateful for.

4. b) Visualize your next day – When you are going to sleep, visualize the best of yourself. Visualize your next day, how you want it to be. Don’t worry it will happen or not, just visualize it. For example, tomorrow is your meeting, visualize what you are wearing, visualize the other person’s face, and visualize yourself having a successful meeting. Visualize how you will after that meeting. Feelings are very important. Every night visualize the best of yourself, how you want to be, and eventually will start becoming that way.

5. Self-love – Do an exercise, go in front of a mirror or open your selfie camera, look into your eyes and say ‘I love you’. Some people cry, some people acknowledge something and some people cannot do it. This is a different feeling. This will generate a feeling of love for yourself.
