QnA with Ashwin Mohan
1. Why does burnout happen?
Ans. Medically, it is a reduction of electrolytes in your body. Therefore, you don’t have energy. As the electrolytes carry electricity to your organs; and they are also essential for the movement of blood. It is very important that the charges move properly in the blood. Another reason for burnout is low sugar and improper diet.
2. How to recognize you are burnt out?
Ans. The number one sign of burning out is Irritability. If you find yourself getting irritated constantly, it’s time to get medical attention.
According to Yoga, “Your thoughts are controlled by your Karma”
3. What are the degrees and stages of being burnt out?
Ans. It starts when you start getting negative thoughts. We call it ANTS – Automatic Negative Thoughts. When you start having ANTS in your brains, then you should start thinking about it and get the help you need right then. If you wait, you will start getting constant irritation, and your ego will take over, and you will blame others for this state of yours.
The second stage is where you keep on finding fault in others.
And then the third stage, finally you start to outburst.
After that, the next stage is you will start getting sleep disturbance and digestive issues like constipation and acidity. You will not absorb enough nutrition from your blood, and the mineral deficiency problem will start coming. For example, you will begin to lose zinc and magnesium, so your energy level will fall because ions give us energy. It is the liquid electricity we call ‘Prana’.
Your ‘Prana’ level will start falling, to which you could end up with an addiction like smoking, eating junk foods, drinking, or anything, like people start getting addicted to coffee and tea. If you are compulsively reaching for something, you are at a very advanced stage. From here, very soon, your energy is going to be crashed.
Stage 1: ANTS(Automatic Negative Thoughts)
Stage 2: Finding faults in others
Stage 3: Being outrageous
Stage 4: Digestive problem and sleep disorder
4. How to prevent ourselves from burning out?
Ans. Make a list of ANTS(Automatic Negative Thoughts) and resolve them. If you get any of the symptoms mentioned above, get in touch with the professional and get it fixed because this is not normal.
5. How to recover if you have already burnt out?
Ans. You can try flower remedy, it is somewhat like homeopathy, but it is not entirely effective. You can also do exercise. Yoga is the most effective way to recover, and the process of karmic removal in yoga is called ‘Karma Virsajana’.
6. What is the main barrier in recovering from this?
Ans. The people’s main problem is that they are not ready to accept that the problem is with them. All that mental irritation and kinds of stuff are happening because of them, not somebody else.
7. How to support someone who has burnt out?
Ans. Here, love is the answer. You have to love that person, and they should feel your affection. You need some skills to understand they are sick and not taking what they are saying personally. Compassion and love are what these people need when they are burning out. You have to keep in front of your mind that they are not well. If they are physically ill, we take a lot of care, but when they are mentally ill, we get hurt and our ego gets hurt, then everyone’s mental health goes down. Second thing, you should not be stressed while helping the other person.
8. What are the techniques you use to heal people?
Ans. One of the most effective techniques is Karma Visarjana in yoga, where we take off the patterns. The second thing is proper nutrition and exercise.
9. Is it possible to speed the healing?
Ans. Yes, it is possible. You have to focus on two things: First, make your immune system and lymphatic system work properly. Second, make your detoxification system which includes liver, kidney, skin pores, work properly.
